About the Process

Making a choice to be represented by a union – or not – is a big decision. You may hear people saying they “might as well give ALPA a try.”

Choosing ALPA  – or any union – isn’t something you take out for a test drive. It is a virtually permanent choice, and one that may impact your career forever. It will also fundamentally change the culture and company we have built working together.

You also may have heard that a majority of JetBlue Pilots signed cards, giving you the impression that this has already been decided, or that your vote doesn’t matter.

YOUR VOTE MATTERS.
JUST BECAUSE YOU SIGNED A CARD DOESN’T MEAN YOU HAVE TO VOTE “YES.”
SIGNED CARDS ONLY MEAN THAT PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE AN ELECTION.

Now that ALPA has filed and requested election, the time has come for you to make your choice, and make your voice heard.  Do you want to continue the work we’ve done together, and continue building the airline that is changing our industry? Do you want to preserve your seat at the table and your individual choices through your individual PEA? Or do you want to change course and follow the lead of the legacy carriers who have come before us? Delegate your seat at the table to someone else? And lose your individual right to choose in favor of the collective will?

The process is straightforward with one important change: IF YOU WANT TO RETAIN THE DIRECT RELATIONSHIP OR DON’T WANT ALPA TO REPRESENT YOU, VOTE “NO.”

We respect your right to choose. We simply ask that you exercise your right to vote.

MYTH:

Progress will come more quickly with representation

FACT:

Recently, a leader from the NMB stated that in cases where they have been involved, it is taking 6 years to negotiate a contract. SIX YEARS! Are you prepared to wait 6 years for a contract, or would it be better to continue our progress under a direct relationship?

Get the Facts. Then Decide. Vote NO to ALPA.

MYTH:

Your current agreement will serve as the “floor” for a CBA under ALPA.

FACT:

In contract negotiations, everything is up for grabs at the bargaining table. We can’t just pick up where we left off with the PVC work. You could walk away with less. And even if you walk away with the same (or more), you will be paying dues for the privilege of what could be years of uncertain contract negotiations.

Get the Facts. Then Decide. Vote NO to ALPA.

MYTH:

If I don’t want to support ALPA, I should stay away from the election

FACT:

The rules have changed. A simple majority of voters (not majority of pilots) will decide the fate of all 2,100 pilots. The only way to Vote NO to ALPA is to VOTE.
